news:

To start I must mention the significance of Thursday April 23. This date marks the 5th year anniversary of the passing of Matthew John Osborne.  You can go to www.mattosborne.com to learn more about him and the trust fund efforts that have been running since his death.  It is with a constant respect for Matt and what he became as an artist and human being that I wish all those who knew him (especially close friends and family), deep and meaningful peace on this Thursday April 23.  It has been said before that we are all richer for having had Matt’s music, passion, incredible talent, mentorship, sense of humour and endearing generousity embedded in our beings. This is equally true 5 years later.  For those who have only met Matt posthumously, through his music and recordings, it has been a life changing experience to witness his impact on you.  An impact I could never have imagined to be so strong when you had never met the man.  It is in fact a testament to why art, why music is at the heart of us all.  When it’s created and performed by a human being who embraced every facet of life and who took the full potential of his talent to everyone without judgment, it is indeed a gift to us all. Matt did this with grace and sincerity. I wanted to share this quote with you from one such person impacted by his music who I hope doesn’t mind seeing her words out for everyone else to read!

“When I first listened to it myself, I started to cry....SERIOUSLY!! I felt so saddened that this amazingly gifted musician was no longer here, and that I wouldn't be able to hear him live. WOW! What a gift to music he was. That CD makes me laugh out loud and cry. I've listened to it a half dozen times and am moved every time. And I just spent the better part of an hour on his website reading about the guy.... cried again. I feel like a ‘baby’, but I think it's pretty cool that his spirit can live on as it surely does for anyone who knew him and anyone who hears his music.”

I pay tribute to Matt without fail but for one reason and only one reason, I owe Matt more than anyone could ever know.  He gave and continues to give me gifts in life and I’m forever indebted to him.  Please take some time to listen his music, words and spirit by hearing samples at http://www.puretracks.com/catalog/details.aspx?pid=ioda_829982081797
